Unbridled spirit of surrealism, mystical twists of street theater, spectacular circus show and, of course, the best traditions of Tattoo Week festival weave into a single multifaceted space. Within the framework of the project, more than 200 skilled Russian and foreign masters will compete with needles in a fierce artistic battle. Traditionally, professional tattoo artists from World Famous Tattoo Ink, Lithuanian Irons, Kwadron, Equaliser by Kwadron, Radiant Colors, Excalibur, Tattoo Pharma and other prominent brands and convention sponsors are preparing to defend their honor at Moscow Tattoo Week. Guide to the Tattoo Collection festival in Kiev
From 18th to 20th of May at VDNG in Kiev there is held Tattoo Festival that has been awaited by all those who are not afraid of using their own body as a canvas, hammering paint under the skin and boldly declaring themselves to the world with the help of body painting.
Tattoo Collection is a unique art venue, which for a few days brings together fans of tattoos from all over the world. The festival brings together the best tattoo artists in a variety of techniques: "chicano", "old skool", "traditional", "realism" - these guys can do it all.

Free tattoo area
If you've ever wondered about tattoo prices, you probably know that a good, high-quality tattoo is expensive. But sometimes in life there are happy occasions, and this is just one of them.
This year, the organizers of the festival decided to give a gift to their visitors and organized two zones at once, where you can get tattoos for free. The first zone is recommended for the brave ones who are ready to get a blind tattoo based on one of the sketches by Norman Collins, the founder of the "old school" style.
And in the second zone, prepared by Somersby, it will be possible to choose the sketch in advance. For those who decide to get a tattoo in this area, there will be a few variations with a basil leaf.
Masterclasses zone
In this area will be interesting to all who are interested in tattooing professionally. On the 18th and 20th May there will be a master class on disinfection and sterilization of the working place in a tattoo parlor, and on the 19th - a master class on making tattoos in the Black&Gray style by Sergej Butenko, the master of Voice of Ink studio in Wroclaw.
Meet the Iron Rolf and the tattoo museum
During the three days of the festival you can see a unique exposition of the only in Central Eastern Europe Polish Tattoo Museum. The founders of the museum are trying to popularize the history of tattooing, bringing to people the fact that tattoos are not just drawings on the body, but a separate and huge layer of culture, the history of which has managed to carry through. By the way, the organizer of the museum will also come to Kiev and will even tattoo those wishing to do so at VDNH.
Also on the territory of Tattoo Collection you can meet an unusual guest - German Rolf Bukholzets, the most pierced man in the world, as evidenced by the record in the Guinness Book of Records.
He has 481 body piercings, more than 20 implants, scarring, tongue splits, eyeball tattoos, implanted magnets in his fingertips and other body modifications.
Entertainment for adults and children
The organizers of the Tattoo Collection have made sure that all the guests have something to diversify their leisure time when they come to the festival. Therefore, even if tattoos are not in your sphere of interest, you will still have something to do.
The first thing worth mentioning is the music zone. At the festival there will be presented several musical genres: during the daytime DJs from DJ Academy will be responsible for the good mood and dancing under the stage, and in the evenings on different days of the festival the rock bands WELL, Atlantic WIZ, Krichuss and the winner of the last season of X-Factor Misha Panchyshyn with his band PTASHKIN will perform.
Headliners of the festival will be Sergei Mikhalok who returned to the big stage for a short time and the band "Lyapis-98" who will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the album "You Killed" and will perform the songs that once made the band famous in several countries at once.
Pabst Blue Ribbon zone is not going to let the visitors get bored either - popular in the states lager, which appeared on the shelves of Ukrainian stores just a few weeks ago, will present at the festival an art zone, where everyone will be able to do a little bit of creative work and Pabst vandalism, covering real minivans with graffiti.
Another feature of Tattoo Collection 2021 is that you can easily go there with kids - the organizers have thought of a whole area for younger guests. Among the entertainments are waiting for you: a bath with balloons, board games, the ability to jump on a trampoline and ride a gyroscooter around the park. And of course, kids can also cover themselves with bright drawings and temporary tattoos.
If the above listed entertainment is not enough for you, check out the battle in break-dance and Manifest "Beat and Rap It! Here the best beatboxers and MCs of Ukraine will fight. Guests will also be able to feel like Kanye West, Fifty Stents and Kendrick Lamar as part of an "open mic" where they will have a chance to test their freestyle and chit-chat.
Aside from that, look for another area with motorcycles from Harley-Davidson and a convention of owners and just smart fans.
Food court
The last, but not the least part of any large-scale event is the food court area. There will be spots with hot dogs, burgers, Ukrainian and vegan food at the festival. Children can be pampered with homemade lemonades, fried Thai ice cream and sweet waffles. In a word - no one will go hungry!

Exhibition "Tattoo
From July 10 to September 27, the Gallery of Arts of Europe and America of the XIX-XX centuries will host an exhibition "Tattoo" dedicated to the art of tattooing. The exhibition will include about 200 works of large-scale chronological and geographical scope, revealing the history of this phenomenon.
Tattoo" exhibition
The exhibition to be seen by Moscow viewers contains additional sections, it is greatly supplemented with works of fine art from Russian museum and private collections and tells about the tattoo phenomenon in the broader context of cultural history.
Introducing more than 3,000 years of history of one of the most ancient practices of body modification, the exhibition and research will tell about the diversity of tattoo forms and functions, their transformation under the influence of various circumstances and the significance of tattoos in contemporary culture.
The exhibition will tell about the stages of tattoo development in different regions of the world on the example of various materials: from traditional art objects to the works of contemporary artists. The works of today's active tattoo artists will be shown on three-dimensional silicone models - casts of body parts of real people, created especially for the exhibition.
Tattoo" exhibition
A special section of the exhibition will be devoted to the tattoo of indigenous peoples of Oceania, where this tradition existed and developed over the centuries up to the arrival of Europeans in the mid-19th century, having achieved an incredible complexity of content and form. The pattern or ornament of the tattoo as well as zone of application to the body were chosen depending on sex, social status, life stage.
In Russia, tattooing also evolved for a long time within closed communities, becoming most prevalent in the criminal environment. By the end of the 20th century the ubiquitous presence of criminal tattoos among members of this world gradually waned, the tattoo of prisoners became part of the international style and the semantic boundaries of the images became more fluid. The exhibition will feature photographs by Sergey Vasilyev, who visited places of detention in the 1970s and 1990s, recording the tradition of Russian criminal tattooing in all its diversity.
At the end of the 20th century, tattoo masters introduced the term "tattoo-artist," thereby transferring their work from a craft dimension to an artistic one and rejecting the distinction between "high" elitist and mass art. Having developed his own visual language, tattooing gradually moved beyond closed systems and became part of contemporary culture.

The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts will present the works of Belgian Wim Delvoie and Italian Fabio Viale at the exhibition "Tattoo".
At the end of the twentieth century, tattoo masters introduced the term "tattoo artist," thereby transferring their work from a craft dimension to an artistic one and rejecting the distinction between "high" elitist and mass art. Having developed its own visual language, tattooing gradually transcended closed systems and became part of contemporary culture.
In choosing tattooing as an artistic technique, Delvoie and Viale draw upon a broad range of embedded socio-cultural meanings and the associations it evokes. Italian sculptor Fabio Viale works with noble Carrara marble. Reproducing ancient sculptures, Viale covers their snow-white surface with drawings of Russian criminal tattoos, as well as tattoos in the Japanese style.
The exhibition will feature three sculptures by Fabio Viale and twelve works by Wim Delvoie.
