Eight
The game of Eight uses a bat and 15 aiming balls, numbered from 1 to 15. Before a player hits the ball number 8, all seven balls of his group (solid - with numbers from 1 to 7 or striped - from 9 to 15) must leave the table. The strikes are carried out according to the order.
3.1 Determination of the First Slaughter
The player who wins a roll chooses who will break the pyramid in the first game. The standard is an alternating split.
3.2 Pyramid for "Eight"
The balls are set as tightly as possible in the shape of a triangle, with the top ball of the pyramid at the back mark and the number 8 ball being the first of those located directly below the head ball. In the two lower corners of the triangle there must be one of each of the balls of both groups, solid and striped. The remaining balls are placed in the triangle arbitrarily, not following any deliberate order or position.

3.3 Burglary of the Pyramid
The following rules apply to robbery:
- The starting position of the bit is with the hand behind the front line.
- No order is declared, and it is not required to make the first touch of the bit on any particular ball.
- If a player scores a ball and does not commit an infraction, he continues playing, and the table remains open
- If no balls are scored, at least four sighted balls must be brought to one or more boards, otherwise the breakdown is incorrect and the incoming player has the option to choose one of the following:
- Accept the position on the table;
- re-expose the pyramid and smash himself;
- re-position the pyramid and offer to smash the opponent, who committed the violation.
- Expose the eighth ball and take position on the table; or
- put the eighth ball and play the bit from the hand from behind the front line; or
- re-break the pyramid.
- take a position on the table; or
- to play a hand hit from behind the front line.
- Take a position on the table; or
- Play a beat from the hand from behind the front line.
3.4 Open Table / Ball Group Selection
Until the choice of ball groups is made, the table is considered "open" and before each hit the player must announce the order of which ball he is going to play. If he succeeds in scoring the ordered ball, the corresponding group of balls becomes his group and the other group becomes his opponent's group. If a player fails to score an ordered ball, the table remains open and the right to strike passes to another player. When the table is "open", the first touch of the bat may be made with any ball except the number 8 ball.
3.5 Continuing Play
A player continues his approach at the table as long as he scores the ordered balls with a correct strike, or wins the game by scoring an eight.
3.6 Strokes requiring an order
On every stroke, other than a batter, an order must be declared as prescribed in Rule 1.6, "Standard Ordered Strike". Ball number 8 can be ordered only after the strike, as a result of which the last ball from this player's group disappeared from the table. The player can declare a "wagering", at the end of which the right to strike goes to the opponent, and all balls scored in this case remain in the pocket.
3.7 Playing balls
If the ball number 8 is hammered in the pocket or knocked out from the table during a robbery, it is set or the pyramid is re-set. Other aiming balls are not placed under any conditions.
3.8 Losing a game
A player is awarded a game loss if he:
- commits a foul on a shot that results in scoring an eight;
- scores an eight before all balls of his group;
- scores an eight not in the ordered pocket;
- blows the eight outside the table.
These rules do not apply to robbery.
3.9 Standard Violations
If a player commits a foul, the right to strike goes to his opponent. He receives the ball from his hand and can place it anywhere on the playing surface of the table.
The standard fouls when playing "eight" are as follows:
- 6.1 "Falling bat into the pocket or flying off the table."
- 6.2 "Hitting the wrong ball" The ball, which must first be hit by the cue ball at each strike, must belong to the group of balls of the player striking, except when the table is open.
- 6.3 "No touch of the boards after the balls hit".
- 6.4 "Foot does not touch the floor"
- 6.5 "Ball is knocked off the table"
- 6.6 Touching the Ball
- 6.7 Double Strike / Flush Balls
- 6.8.
- 6.9 "Hitting with balls in motion"
- 6.10 "Incorrectly positioned bat"
- 6.11 "Improper Play from Behind the Front Line"
- 6.12 "Cue on the Table"
- 6.13 "Out of Line Play"
- 6.15 "Slow Play"
3.10 Significant Infractions
Offences listed in Rule 3.8, "Game Loss", will be punished by forfeiture of the current game. In the case of unsportsmanlike conduct (Rule 6.16), the referee chooses the penalty according to the nature of the offence.
3.11 Stalemate Position
If a stalemate occurs, the player who broke in that game must perform a new breakdown.

Interview puzzle questions and answers. Part 2
В previous article We wrote that puzzle questions sometimes may not have a single correct answer, but are designed to test a candidate's behavior in non-standard situations, to find out how he or she thinks, and how he or she handles difficult situations.
Here are five more puzzles you may encounter along the way.
Billiard balls.
This question is most often asked of IT professionals to test their ability to think logically.
Question: There are eight billiard balls. One of them is slightly heavier than the others. In what minimum number of weighings on a lever scale without weights is it possible to find this ball?
Answer: 2 weighings. You need to divide all the balls into three parts: 3 balls in two parts each, and 2 balls in the third part. First, you weigh the first two parts of 3 balls each. If one of the parts turns out to be heavier, then weigh any 2 balls from it between them. Either one of them will be the desired ball, or the unweighed one if they are equal. In the case of equal weight of the parts in the first weighing, the heavier ball will be in the third part of the two balls.
House
Task: Draw a house.
Answer: What could seem to be easier. Draw a square, a couple of rectangles, and a triangle on top. But it isn't. This test is designed for positions that require an employee to think outside the box and take an individual approach to each task. First, you need to be creative rather than drawing a formulaic house. Secondly, you must first clarify who the house is for: who will live in it, and how many tenants there will be. It is not necessary to begin the work without knowing all the nuances.
You may be asked to draw not only the house, but everything. But you should always find out all the details, so that the final result will be correct. And the process itself will mean a lot more than this final result.
Elephant
Question: How do I know the weight of an elephant without scales?
Answer: There can be very many options, you are limited only by your ingenuity and imagination. For example, you can put an elephant on a barge and mark its draught. Then remove the elephant and put objects whose weight you know - five-liter bottles of water, say. And when the draught of the barge is the same as with the elephant, multiply the number of objects by their weight. The main thing here is your ingenuity.
M&M's Drag.
Question: Why is the icing on the famous M&M's dragees perfectly smooth? How are they made, do they fly in the air?
A: Another question, the right answer to which is not as important as the candidate's options. How would you solve this problem if you were suddenly in production? Would you hold a dragon on an air stream? Would you stick them on a string where the logo is located? They are actually sprayed with icing in a rotating drum. That way their surface stays smooth and the glaze is applied evenly. But your individual approach to this task will mean so much more.
Russian Roulette
The solution to this problem depends on the specifics of your profession. The answer can be found either by using exact calculations or simply by using logic.
Question: There is a six-shot revolver. It has 2 bullets, both located next to each other. Your opponent unwinds the cylinder, puts the muzzle to his temple and pulls the trigger. No shot is fired. What will you do: will you pull the trigger immediately or will you spin the drum again first?
Answer: The correct answer is to pull the trigger right away. If you calculate accurately, the probability of surviving in this case is 75%, and if you untwist the drum first, it drops to 66.7%. Since the bullets are next to each other, you can logically determine that it is better to pull the trigger immediately.
