For a long time I've been watching how different designers use images of animals, in this case bears, in company logos.
Agree, this technique is very beneficial, since everyone already has a representation and a certain association with a certain kind of creatures in his head.
How could it not!
I thought the same way until I started collecting specific branding examples for this article.
The bear symbolizes strength, aggression, relentlessness and even a sense of fear.
Pandas in particular stand out with this one.
No, wait, because pandas are not associated with any of the above.
In my opinion, the panda expresses kindness, gentleness, playfulness, and safety.
Do you see where I'm going with this?
In other words, I have divided the 59 chosen examples into 5 main varieties of style.
I'll talk about how they differ and show the most creative and beautiful examples below, enjoy watching!
Aggressive Bears in Branding
Let's start, oddly enough, with the rarest trend.
It would seem that the bear is just right for expressing aggression, menace, power.
Why, then, are such logos the hardest to find?
It turned out very simple.
Most entrepreneurs and businesses, want to appear kind, calm and make you feel safe.
And that makes sense.
No one wants to feel stressed or feel threatened the moment they give their money for your products or services.
Some clothing brands are a rare exception.
Since their goal is to convey a certain style in your bow, lifestyle and self-expression, they sometimes use a bear for a similar association.
Let's take a look at the best examples.

Sketch tattoo Bear - a popular image in men and girls associated with a dangerous beast. The bear is not only brown, but also white and even its Chinese brother, the panda, refer to the subject of the drawing. Each species has its own individual unique image, and different character. The bear is a symbol of strong and good-natured people who are not prone to excessive aggression and calm temperament.
In most of the sketches bear represented in the form of head, often with a gritted mouth. This image refers to the brown representative of the family. White depicts a quiet, sometimes wandering about their business, and the favorite of cheerful and cheerful people panda, pleases all with his carefree lazy look.
The main objective in drawing a sketch is the choice of position of the head or body of the bear in relation to the area of skin, which is planned to make a tattoo. The drawing is scaled, if desired, add additional elements to the composition or simply decorate with patterns. Then the sketch of tattoo bear lead to the final form - define tattoo style and technique of application. Afterwards a color palette is chosen based on the chosen style.
It is worth paying attention to the personalization of the sketch with a bear. We do not advise you to just copy the picture you like, just one in one, as it is presented. In this case, you will probably make a similar tattoo to someone else who has done it before you. Or meet someone else who, will do it afterwards. We don't think you'll like that.
To avoid such a situation in advance, try to personalize the bear tattoo sketch. Supplement it with appropriate characters or objects with which it is associated. Men can add axes, woods. Girls decorate with flowers or add patterns in the popular technique of Dotwork. You can enter geometric shapes in the sketch, which is now in high demand.
It is generally believed that the image of a bear with a grin is a priority for men. Nothing of the sort, girls also wear a menacing bear on the back (on one of the shoulder blades) or on the thigh. But more often prefer standard solutions and ideas with bears, such as a bear with cubs or a cute panda.
Needless to say, the bear's gaze (if it is a profile) must be turned in the direction in which the future owner's head usually looks - forward. This applies to tattoos on the side, shoulders, chest and one of the upper parts of the back. In other cases, symmetrical images of a bear's head (in full-face) are preferred to place on the forearms, calves of the legs, the front of the thigh of the leg, on the back at the top of the spine or in the center of the chest.
One more not superfluous advice - before you finally approve the sketch of the tattoo bear, try to read its meaning and the meaning of the additional objects of the composition. Make sure that they do not carry a negative meaning and will be in harmony with your character and worldview.
Bear logo in sports and cybersports
And here the situation is completely the opposite.
On examination it turned out that in sports teams are not afraid to express aggression, as their desire to suppress the opponent as much as possible before the match.
The vast majority of logos with bears in sports and cybersports symbolize and directly show the threat, aggression, strength, anger, etc.
I also want to draw your attention to the fact that sports logos have a distinctive feature. This is a fairly minimalistic fill, with always sharp transitions between colors and a very visible outline around the animal's head. Also often used is the curved text of the team name directly underneath the image.
Here are some very expressive logos that are really breathtaking.
Head
Bears are the largest representatives of the suborder of the ponderous. At first glance, there is little in common between these animals, but if you look closely, we see many similarities. This is especially evident in the construction of the head.
Face .
- To learn how to draw the head of the bear, regardless of its species, it is best to start from a horizontal rectangle. In this rectangle inscribe an oval. We divide it into two equal parts horizontally and vertically. Next, add two more lines: red - shows the level of the nose, green - passes over the eyes.
- From the center of the oval, draw two diagonals to the top of the rectangle. At the intersection of the diagonals and the green line for placing small eyes. Nose mark in the gap between the horizontal axis and the red line. Under the nose shows the line of the mouth. Small round ears, placed on the green line above the eyes.
- We add the neck. To pull the muzzle forward, when drawing in full-face you need to work well on the shadows, which will certainly appear, especially near the nose. Do not forget about the highlights on the nose and eyes, they also help achieve volume. Use strokes of varying intensity to show the fur, which grows away from the nose. If you are working with color, use different shades to show the hair that is shaggy.
Drawing the elephant
The illustration shows how to draw the head of a polar bear, using the same scheme you can draw the head of other bear species, with adjustments for the shape of the head (more round, elongated or flattened). For example, to draw the head of a brown bear, you need to use a higher rectangle in the base, as a result of the oval will not be as flattened.
Profile .
The nose, eyes and ear are always on the same slant.
- Head of the bear in profile we start drawing from the two ovals or circles. On top of these circles mark a trapezium divided into two parts (shown in orange). The narrow part of the trapezoid shows the slope of the muzzle in profile.
- The top two lines help place ears. On the top edge of the trapezoid, at the intersection of the circles we mark eyes. The line in the middle shows where the nose .. The bottom line shows the direction of the lower jaw, the direction of the closing line of the mouth.
Eyes
The eyes will make the drawing more expressive and realistic. They are often difficult to see, but if your work needs detail, here is a simple sequence:
This scheme does not need any special explanations. It is important to mark the eyelids correctly, they are not covered with wool and there may be a slight glare on them. The wool grows in the direction from the eye in different directions. Above the eye there is a small crease, something like eyebrows or brow arches.

Nose
In different species, the nose may be slightly different in size, may be more elongated or rounded. Stages of drawing the nose: The basis is always an oval, which should be divided into two parts. In the upper part there are the nostrils, here there are more details. At the bottom there is a kind of relief, which can be shown with light strokes.
Ears
Bears have very cute ears, rounded and small. Such soft shapes are not usually characteristic of predatory animals.
Drawing ears is not difficult at all. It is important to show the direction of the wool correctly, this is shown in the illustration, steps 2 and 3.
Logos with kind bears
Moving through the logo styles like a pendulum, we move from "evil" emblems to cute, kind and caring bears.
When I started to write this article, I had no idea that bears are often used for branding children's clothing stores, various sweets and even design studios.
But look on the bright side, imagine these bears: pandas, koalas (yes, they are bears too), young brown bears and other subspecies.
In fact, this proves once again that it's not the symbol in the logo that determines style, but how we portray it.
That's it, I'm going to shut up and just show you the cutest logos, selected from a really huge variety of good bear logos.
Meaning of the bear tattoo
The meaning of the popular bear tattoo varies.
- Grizzly Bear means: the ability to resolve any confusing situation;
- the ability to get out of any problem in life.
- loneliness;
- good-naturedness of character;
However, not only the bear itself has a certain meaning. Important place is also taken by the body parts of the ferocious beast.
- The goggle on a bear's muzzle means:
- courageous attitude;
- strength of spirit.
courage;
The bear's grin is popular with men.
The meaning of a bear tattoo is different. The bear can mean not only wisdom and obedience, but also feelings of rage and ferocity.
Heraldry, emblems and stamps
As you know, the fashion for old-school logos has been making a comeback lately.
Logos with lots of detail, jagged borders, black and white versions of logos.
As it turns out, this style is truly dominated by the bear as a strong, authentic animal.
Whether it's a head or a whole bear standing on two paws, or all at once, this animal fits perfectly in atmospheric emblems and heraldic images.
Artists find the most unexpected options for depicting this animal to make you remember the brand once and for all.
Let's take a look at the coolest examples in this style.
Drawing step by step
- Begin the work by drawing a line indicating the pose of the animal, or the position of its spine (it is shown in red). Add lines showing the position of the legs (shown in green).
- Around these lines simple forms outline the shape of the animal: body, head, legs.
- Refine silhouette, making lines more fluid and precise.
- Schedule the eyes, muzzle, nose and ears, according to the above scheme.
- Determine where the light source will be located. In our case, the sun is on the top right, according to this we mark the shadows and light, to give three-dimensional image.
- Strokes show shaggy hair. In place of the large folds, you can use more clear and expressive strokes. Use light strokes where the nap lies evenly.
How to Draw Lilies
Minimalistic, simplified bear symbol
Let's move on to the final trend in style, which is prevalent now and will be relevant for years to come - minimalism.
To recreate a bear through simple, graceful shapes and to do so in a way that doesn't replicate existing logos is no easy task at all.
Sometimes you wonder where artists get these creative ideas and can portray such different bears through a small symbol with only a few details.
In turn, we'll pay tribute to creators from around the world by showing you the best and most creative options for minimalist bear logos.
Wool
In order to draw a bear in pencil, you will have to be quite careful to work out the hair, which plays an important role in creating the image of this animal. Polar bears have the longest fur, and Himalayan bears have an expressive collar at the level of the neck.
- The first thing to pay attention to is the direction in which the fur grows: from the muzzle to the tail and feet.
- The second is the shine. White and brown bears have dull coat, while Himalayan, black and Malayan bears have shiny and glossy coat, and panda bears have barely noticeable glare.
If a fur is short, it is enough to give it a general tone, show shade and light, and sometimes outline the hair length with short strokes.
To sum it up
We hope this article was the most useful for you, and that you have found inspiration that you can grab and develop something of your own, something unique.
Remember, whatever the trends in styles, you can always create new creatives by mixing existing trends or creating completely new ones.
There are no bad logos and good logos, only logos that are forgotten in a second and ones that stick in your memory forever.
Good luck with the design!
